Welcome to Wirral Mind’s Volunteering Service.

People apply to become volunteers with us for many different reasons.  It may be to meet new people and become actively involved within their own community.  It may also be to improve confidence, gain new skills and work within a different working environment, thus enabling progression to succeed in their chosen careers. Volunteering doesn’t have to be a major commitment.  In fact, it can be as little as a couple of hours per week.

There is a range of volunteer vacancies and whatever you may choose, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that your participation will be enriching the lives of people who have experienced, or are experiencing, mental distress.  The invaluable contribution made by our volunteers helps to play an enormous part in supporting the people of Wirral. Volunteers within this organisation are highly valued and hugely respected members of Wirral Mind’s team.  A lot of our volunteers have been with us for many years, especially in the roles of Befrienders, Counsellors, General Support, Administrators, Receptionists and Recreational Activities.  This is reflected in the nominations put forward for the Volunteer Long Service Award Ceremony, at which the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Andrew Hodson, presents the volunteers with their certificates and medallions.

In 2009 we had three volunteers awarded the Gold Medallion (ten years service), five volunteers awarded the Silver Medallion (five years service) and two volunteers with the Bronze Medallion (three years service).  For 2010 we look forward to having eight volunteers going forward to receive their Long Service Award plus at least twenty-three other volunteers who will receive their 100 Hour Award for services: – all in recognition of their outstanding contribution to Wirral Mind and their community.
